Four Champs athletes attended the Skate Canada Next Gen Camp in Laval, QC this past week. The skaters were given the opportunity to show off their programs in front of a panel of international judges and technical specialists.
Emma Szeto (Novice Ladies), Emily Millard (Junior Ladies), Hailey Yu & Brendan Giang (Novice Dance) had a great time and enjoyed a workshop with World Champion Kaetlyn Osmond.

What an awesome weekend of skating at the 2019 BC Summerskate Competition held at our home rink, Burnaby 8 Rinks. Big congratulations to all of our athletes that skated and earned excellent results and personal best scores. The competition was a great way to wrap up an amazing summer of training!

Congratulations to our team of Champs athletes that competed at the 2019 Wild Rose Competition in Leduc, Alberta last weekend. The competition was held in conjunction with the 2019 North American Cup competition that featured three Champs athletes.

Last weekend was the 2019 BC/YK Section High Performance and BC/YK Technical Camp held at our home rink, Burnaby 8 Rinks, for some of BC’s top skaters.
Many of our Elite and Advanced skaters were given the opportunity to work with ISU Judges and Technical Specialists.
The Technical Camp was presented by our Director Joanne McLeod and Scott Davis from Calgary. The camp was an awesome experience for Champs skaters and coaches.

Champs International Skater of the Month!
Sanuli is 11 years old and trains on the Champs International Skating Centre Sr A sessions. Recently, she won Gold at the VISI Competition in Parksville, BC (Juvenile) and Gold at Victoria Day Competition in Surrey, BC (Juvenile).
Sanuli is coached by Joanne McLeod, Neil Wilson & Kathryn Kang.
Sanuli has elegance, soft knees, and good technical foundation for a positive future in our sport. When she is not skating Sanuli also enjoys playing soccer, badminton, and swimming in her spare time.
Champs is very proud of you and your improvement!

Congratulations to all of our Jr Academy skaters that participated in our annual Linda Brauckmann Jr Academy Competition.
The Linda Brauckmann Competition is dedicated to the late Mrs. Linda Brauckmann whose achievements include coaching a World Champion & Olympic Medalist, and being inaugurated into the Skate Canada Coaching Hall of Fame. Her claim to fame is coaching Vancouverite Karen Magnussen to win Gold at the 1973 World Championships. Mrs. Brauckmann was from BC and stood as one of Canada’s coaching treasures.
A big thank you to our Jr Academy Coordinator Jill Marie Harvey for all of her efforts in organizing and executing this exciting event!
